Meet Brock, he is a 2 year old purebred neutered male Rottweiler who was turned into our local shelter. Brock is a great boy, but shelter life just wasn't for him so off he went into a foster home. He loves other dogs and is currently living with 4 others as well as cats, which he does just fine with. Brock has great house manners, is housebroken and crate trained. He does very well outside in our large fenced yard, though he is just as happy lounging in the house with us.

Tank is a 3 year old neutered male rottweiler who was recently pulled from our local shelter. Tank wasn't faring so well in shelter life and needed a home environment, in which he has settled right into with his foster family. Tank resides with 4 other dogs, cats and farm animals. He does well with most dogs he meets, but a select few have gotten him a little grumpy. I suspect part of that is due to him just being neutered. He does well with all my females. Tank likes to try and play with my cats and does need to be reminded he is heavier than them and has to play gently but for the most part he's very good with them. Tank is a very social boy who doesn't seem to have really bonded with anyone yet in his life and he so wants to! He'd do well in a home with rottweiler experience, and a playmate. He has not lived with kids but does well with those he meets.
If you are interested in learning more about Tank, please email his foster mom Allie at Phay1018@aol.com.

Roman is a large, strong Black Labrador boy with LOTS of energy. He came from a shelter in Ohio as a stray so we are uncertain of his beginnings. Roman truly lives up to his breed as he absolutely LOVES to play fetch as well as get into the water and splash around! Roman has had little to no training in his life and needs an experienced owner who can handle a strong dog. He gets along with other dogs, but should be properly introduced to any new house mate as he is a big boy. Roman will be enrolling in obedience classes and will need a family committed to continuing these classes. He will also need to go to a home with a properly fenced in backyard! Roman is housebroken as well as crate trained and has done wonderfully with all children he has met! He really is a sweet natured boy who would love to find his forever home.

Blake is a handsome German Shepherd Dog who is approximately 8-10 years old. Blake was found as a stray in the streets of Ohio. The shelter workers really liked him and knew he needed to find rescue, so I pleaded with BDBH to commit to him and said I would foster this boy. I have a special place in my heart for seniors. Blake loves to be with his people, and seeks out affection from his "family". He is a quiet boy, who is content just laying down being around people and watching whats going on, or going for a walk on a nice day. While he is a strong boy, he walks well on a leash. He is good with other dogs as long as they are not in his face and pushy, as pushy behavior seems to make him uncomfortable. He is currently living with males and female dogs, my husband and I, and 5 year old daughter. He does well with my daughter, but does get a little nervous when she runs around playing. I feel that Blake will be best suited for a quieter home, with or without older children.
Blake weighs 82lbs and needs to gain at least 10-15 pounds. He is mild heartworm positive, which he will start treatment for on November 1, and has mild Degenerative Myelopathy (DM).
Blake will be adopted out under BDBH's Senior Program

Tucker is a 6 month old Black German Shepherd Mix. He made his way to New York from Kentucky where he was an owner surrender. He was adopted as an 8 week old and returned because the owner "did not have enough time" Tucker is incredibly smart and already knows how to sit, stay and shake. He is great on a leash and loves to go for walks and hikes. He also loved getting his feet wet in the water on a recent hike. Tucker is housebroken, crate trained and rides well in the car. He snuggles up and puts his head on your lap in the car! He gets along very well with other dogs as he shares his foster home with two big males. We are looking for an active family who will continue with exercise, training and socialization. He is truly a very good puppy and will make his forever family very happy!

Dino has arrived from Tennessee. He and his brother Waldo were picked up by animal control as strays. He appears to be in the age of 6 - 8 months old and weighs about 37lbs. He has a terrific personality and is adjusting well to his new foster home. Dino rides very well in the car and has zero problems playing with his three foster siblings. Dino does have a food aggression problem with other dogs which we are working to correct. Dino is a very smart little guy. He knows the commands sit, come, outside, inside, down and his favorite - Eat. The first picture of him tells it all. Happy, sociable and full of life. Dino has a strong personality so will need an experienced handler. He is great with other dogs but will need to be tested with cats.

Bear is a 10 month old Shepherd/Lab mix. He was turned into a local humane society as an owner surrender for being "too hyper". He is still a big puppy and just needed a little excercise. Bear is very good both on and off leash. He loves going for walks and always keeps track of his person. Bear seems to love everyone so far. He has lived with children, cats and other dogs. Sonny is a very sweet 8-10 month old German Shepherd dog. He has made his way up here from Kentucky where he was turned in by his owners because they could not afford to feed him. He is on the skinny side weighing in at 58 pounds and could afford to put on at least 10-12 pounds. Sonny gets along great with our pack and just wants to play! He loves to cuddle and have his ears scratched as well. Sonny is crate trained, house broken, rides really well in the car, and walks well on a lead. Sonny will benefit from basic obedience as he has had none. He does learn very quickly, however, and has already mastered sit in just the few days that he has been in our home. My name is Onyx. I am a male German Shepherd Dog. I weigh 85 lbs and need to gain 5-7 more because of my large frame. Here is a bit more about me, as told to my foster parents:
I was born May 27, 2007 in North Carolina. I lived outside and was kept on a chain. One day a few months ago, my owner's son decided I had gotten too big and took me to the local animal control facility. My time was quickly up and rescues were full, but a wonderful lady with a boarding kennel told me I could come stay with her until I found rescue. In the meantime, she attended to my right back leg which had some deep cuts due to the chain I was on being wrapped around it, bathed me, fed me and kept me safe until we found BDBH.
I made my way to New York in the beginning of November. When I arrived off transport my foster parents noticed I was favoring my foot again. Well, somehow I injured my foot pad pretty badly, so you may see me at Meet and Greet with a boot on, which I am so good about wearing. It is healing well now though and I am walking on it. My doctors say I will be good as new.
Now, as you can imagine I really didn't learn much living outside most of my life. My foster mommy says I am like a 6 month puppy in a big dog body. However, I am a smart boy. In just a few weeks I have learned/am learning:
* that dogs use the outside only for a bathroom; * that I like my extra large crate with lots of cozy blankets when my foster parents are not home, especially when I get a frozen marrow bone! * how to play appropriately with my dog friends; * that I don't need to counter surf; * that I don't need to mouth or grab at clothes for attention; * the best part of what I am learning is that I absolutely love living in the house and being part of a family.
I still need a bit more time with my foster family. When I am ready to go to my forever home, I will be looking for a family that will do obedience with me to continue my learning process, understands I am a big boy who needs a consistent and loving leader, possibly has another dog as I do like to play. I have not met cats, but I can be tested with them. Click the red text to fill out an
